Mestia is a 4-5 hour road trip from the town of Zugdidi. Shared taxis (Marshrutkas) leave from the back of Zugdidi's train station every morning, shorty after the night train from Tbilisi arrives.
A landing strip for planes is scheduled to open during 2011.
